The role of an Admin assistant at BruntWork

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and organized Admin assistant, HR & Operations Assistant to support day-to-day administrative, HR, recruitment, and workforce coordination activities.

This is an entry-level opportunity suited to someone who has some exposure to HR, payroll, administration, or recruitment and is eager to develop their skills. The client is willing to provide training to the right candidate.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable communicating with employees, and able to manage multiple administrative tasks with accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with employee onboarding, including collecting and organizing required documentation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR files
  • Review daily staff timesheets, including clock-in and clock-out records across different job sites
  • Assist with payroll preparation by reviewing hours worked and identifying discrepancies
  • Support recruitment activities, including candidate sourcing, initial screening, and interview coordination
  • Handle occasional inbound and outbound calls with employees and clients
  • Respond to basic employee inquiries and escalate issues when necessary
  • Assist with general administrative and operational tasks
  • Help implement and improve administrative processes as the business grows
  • Support ad-hoc projects and new operational requirements as they arise

Requirements

  • Some previous experience or exposure to HR, administration, recruitment, payroll, or office support is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating by phone, email, and messaging
  • Basic understanding of spreadsheets and common office software
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Reliable, proactive, and willing to take ownership of assigned tasks

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with timesheets or payroll support
  • Experience with employee onboarding or HR documentation
  • Recruitment or candidate coordination experience
  • Familiarity with HRIS, payroll, or workforce management systems
  • Experience working with remote or distributed teams

Ideal Candidate

This role does not require extensive HR experience. We are primarily looking for someone with a strong administrative foundation, attention to detail, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn.

The successful candidate will receive training on the company’s specific HR, payroll, onboarding, timesheet, and operational processes and will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the business grows.
