Communication Manager

About Digital Action: DA is a 501(c)3 fiscally sponsored project based in the US. Our strategic focus is to build a global movement of civil society organisations, funders and media to pressure Big Tech to address the global equity crisis in tech, which most impacts the Global Majority.

Role Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Manager to support the development and execution of strategic communications across the organization. They will play a key role in enhancing our visibility, engaging audiences, and ensuring consistency in voice and brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy that supports Digital Action’s mission and engages diverse audiences, including partners, networks, and funders.
  • Craft clear, compelling content on complex digital rights topics across multiple formats and channels (e.g., blog posts, reports, press releases, newsletters).
  • Oversee and manage Digital Action’s digital presence, including the website and social media accounts, ensuring consistent voice, tone, and visual identity.
  • Develop and distribute Digital Action’s newsletter, curating timely, relevant, and engaging content.
  • Guide and coordinate the creation of visual and branding assets, in collaboration with consultants, designers, and internal team members.
  • Coordinate and manage other communications consultants, ensuring high-quality outputs that align with strategic goals, voice and tone.
  • Identify and respond creatively to opportunities for outreach, influence, and engagement, including media, events, and cross-sector partnerships.
  • Support the production of high-quality publications and collateral, including annual reports, campaign materials, and donor-facing documents.
  • Track and analyze communication metrics (following GDPR), using insights to refine strategy and improve impact.
  • Collaborate across teams, contributing communication expertise to projects, campaigns, and internal decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly/succinctly and edit for different purposes on complex topics.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with design and communications-related staff, consultants, and vendors.
  • Experience working in a remote environment.
  • Ability to produce creative publications and outputs. 
  • Passionate about digital rights.
