Clipboard Health is seeking a Software Engineer, Backend to join their fast-growing Series C marketplace that connects healthcare facilities and professionals through an app-based platform. This role involves crafting solutions that reshape how healthcare professionals and facilities connect, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to build impactful features.

Key responsibilities include writing performant backend services using Node/NestJS and reliable frontend experiences with React and TypeScript, leveraging MongoDB, Postgres, and Redis for data integrity and scale, developing reusable components for web and mobile applications (Ionic/React, Dart/Flutter), working with the DevX team to enhance tooling and libraries, owning the full software development lifecycle from problem definition through production support, deploying code using trunk-based development with automated regression testing, collaborating with Product Managers and occasionally engaging directly with customers, participating in daily overlap sessions, contributing to customer-centric approaches while balancing quick fixes with long-term improvements, and participating in on-call rotations (typically one week per month).

Requirements

• Proficiency in building complex web or mobile apps, ideally with TypeScript, React, and Node/NestJS
• Experience developing, monitoring, and supporting services in production
• Strong understanding of service-specific integration testing, E2E testing, and selective unit tests
• Familiarity with AWS (ECS, Terraform) and best practices for deploying cloud-based applications
• Ability to thrive in “low-structure, high-ownership” environments with complex problem-solving skills
• Comfortable balancing immediate customer needs with robust long-term architecture planning
• Excellent written communication skills essential for remote culture – ability to articulate ideas, provide concise PR feedback, and document decisions thoroughly
• Open to giving and receiving frequent feedback for continuous improvement
• Customer empathy with desire to make real-world impacts and collaborate with PMs and customers
• High-ownership mindset for building and maintaining systems
• Bonus: Startup experience, familiarity with trunk-based development, first-principles thinking approach
